May

Oh My Gosh!!  I can't believe I am writing my last BLOG for the year (and my last one as a Tritt teacher which makes me kind of sad).  It is hard to believe it is almost over.

We have been busy here at school learning about Frogs, Bees, and things you see in the spring.  The children have really enjoyed playing outdoors and have enjoyed playing with their kindergarten friends as well.  Due to CRCT testing we are not able to use the gym so we have been going outside in the morning before the rest of the school comes out after testing!!!  It has actually been a great experience for the kids.

We are excited about our upcoming field trip to the Aquarium.  Since I have never been, I think I may be more excited than the kids :0)

During the month of May we will be reading the books The Very Hungry Caterpillar and 10 Little Ladybugs which are two of our favorites so look for some cute art projects to be coming home.

As always, if there is anything you need feel free to contact me.

Have a great day!

February

Sorry for the delay of my February Blog.  Above you will find the February calendar to print off.  We have just finished our unit on The Mitten and the children loved it!!!  They couldn't wait for the bear to sneeze at the end and watch all of the animals shoot out of the mitten.  Their expressions were priceless.

We are currently reading Valentine's Day at the Zoo and will be learning about and making valentines day bags.  Our Valentine's day exchange will be on February 14th.  You may have your child bring in their Valentine's any day next week before Thursday. Eileen has sent in a special cake mix for us to make and enjoy on Valentine's day so for those you with food allergies, please send in something sweet for your child to enjoy during this time on Thursday.

We will be reading Polar Bear, Polar Bear what do you hear the last two weeks of February.  This is also a favorite book of ours.  We will be doing some fun activities for this story as well.

Don't forget to print off a calendar to keep posted at home.

Thanks for your support throughout the year.

Happy New Year!

Hello everyone and Welcome Back! We are all rested up and ready to start the second half of the year.  This month we will be reading a book I have adapted entitled "The Gingerbread Man".  We will be making gingerbread men and going on a gingerbread man hunt.  I have done this in years past and the kids absolutely love it!!  We will read this book for two weeks.  My afternoon group will be learning about the letter J, so please remember to send in a "J" object for the surprise box.

The following two weeks we will be reading the book called "The Mitten".  I have made little animals for the children to put inside the mitten and at the end when the bear sneezes, I rip open the mitten and the animals go everywhere. The kids (and teachers) love this too.  We will concentrate on the letter "K" for the last two weeks in January.

I hope you all had a wonderful break and I look forward to the children coming back tomorrow.

Happy November!!

Sorry I am a bit delayed on getting the calendar ready this month.  I hope everyone remembered that there was no school on November 5th and 6th.  This month we will be learning about leaves and Thanksgiving.  We will be doing some fun activities so look for some cute artwork to be coming home soon.

I attended a great seminar yesterday on literacy.  I have some fun new things to include in my afternoon Letter Time.  It will take me a while gto get things up and running because everything has to be made!!  I do however need your help.  Each Monday please have your child send in something that starts with the letter of the week (listed on the calendar).  I will be putting them into my "Mystery Box" and using this as an activity at letter time.  Also, if any of you have the game "Scrabble" that you are no longer using and would liek to donate, I am need of the little letter pieces to that game.  Yard sales may be a good place to find these too.

Have a great day!!!!

Here is the October calendar that you can print off. This month we are learning about farm and farm animals in preparation for our Field Trip.  We will be leaving October 16th at 9:00 and all children must be checked out at the front office.  I also have to get your signature on a check out sheet if you plan to take your child home with you instead of back to school.  I will have this with me on the trip.  Early release day is October 17 (half day kiddos leave at 11:00 and full day at 12:00).  Please let Eileen or myself know if you have any additional questions about our field trip although I think she has covered everything.  Directions will be coming when it gets closer to the date.  Thanks for all your continued support!!!

Here is my first attempt at uploading a calendar to my blog.  I hope to find an easier way because this took forever!!!  I will post a monthly calendar that you can print to keep at home.  Stay tuned for further updates!

Welcome!

Children_in_circle Hello and Welcome Back to school!  I am excited to start my 7th year teaching Special Needs Preschool. I had a busy but relaxing summer.  I traveled to Europe for two weeks with a family I nannied for in Sioux Falls, SD and also made a road trip to Minnesota to visit relatives and attend my best friend's wedding.  It was great summer but I am ready to get back into my routine.

Once again I am very fortunateto have Mrs. Lide back as my parapro and will gain another parapro this year to insure safety of our children.  Her name is Mrs. Coffey, she is another great addition to our team.

For those who are new, here is a little about myself.   I grew up in Lake City, MN, attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and then on to Vermillion, SD where I earned my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education.  I moved here to Georgia 7 years ago as I needed to get out of the cold weather!!  I have recently purchased a townhouse in Woodstock and rescued a dog last May on my way to school.  I named him Baxter, and I absolutely love him!

This is my first attempt at my BLOG so please be patient with me.  I will try my best to do weekly postings as well as monthly calendars.

As always, please let me know if you have questions or concerns.  I am looking forward to another year working with such wonderful families!
