Traditions of Excellence in Art
Welcome back to all our young artists! We will start the year off with a unit on Folk art by exploring folk art from around the world .Since folk art is typically defined by the fact that the artist usually did not receive formal training in that medium, we’ll be giving the students some real freedom to express themselves in their first project.
As is our “excellent tradition”, we will focus on the art which will be on display at the High Museum throughout the year. This is an especially exciting year since the High has entered in an exclusive relationship with the Louvre in Paris. Over the next three years, the High will display important collections from the Louvre, some art which has never even left Paris! This will give our community a once in a lifetime opportunity to view works from great masters!
An Evening of Art and Music—November 16th, 2006.
We are pleased to announce our second annual art show which will be held in conjunction with our evening Chorus concert. Art work from every student at Tritt will be framed and on display. Many of you attended last year’s show in the Gym and the feedback we received was very positive. So, we will again be working with First Art Works to bring you a truly professional show. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase original art or reproductions at the show. These frames works will make great holiday presents, so mark your calendar for an evening of the arts.
Art Club News
Sign up for art club will occur in early September. The format for Art Club will be slightly different this year. We are looking to expand the format to offer more time in art club. In addition to the great activities, art club members will be come more active in community service projects like visual displays, sign production, graphic design and volunteer work. As we fine tune our plans, information will be available in upcoming Thursday memos or on the web.
