Since tomorrow is the 100th day of school, first graders are wearing their tie-dye t-shirts. So don't forget to have your child wear his/her purple t-shirt! We will also wear them on the day of our field trip, which will be February 9th.

Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a wonderful winter break with you families! I can hardly believe that half of the school year is over! Your children have grown in so many ways since the beginning of the year! Let’s start the New Year off in a fabulous way and make reading a big priority! Some children came back from break a little rusty with their reading skills:)
We have lots to cover this week.
In reading, we are focusing on comparing fiction and nonfiction text, but in reading groups we cover many other skills. Sight words for this week are as follows: get, called, know, just most, me, and to. Remember, if your child can read all or most of the words, work on spelling at home with them. Our phonics sort this week deals with consonant blends pl, sl, bl and fl.
In math we are focusing on fractions, but will be reviewing addition, subtraction, graphing, counting money, etc.
In content we are focusing on health, which for this nine weeks will be contrasting the functions of muscle groups.
Children are writing about winter pictures they created.
Hope your week is going well!
