I hope that you all had a memorable Thanksgiving break! Thank you all for your support at our Thanksgiving Play...it was a blast and the kids made me very proud.

Jury Duty

I will be out for jury duty on Monday and possibly some days following that, so the students will have Mrs. Garvey as their substitute. It is VERY important that you remember to send dismissal notes on the days when your child will not be following their normal routine. This includes sending notes for all FAST classes that your child attends.

Progress Alerts

Progress alerts for the 2nd Quarter will go home on Tuesday. These alerts are to let you know if there are academic areas that we’ve covered thus far that need more attention or any concerns in learning behaviors.

Scholastic Book Orders

Make sure to get your holiday book orders in by Wednesday, November 30th.

Message About Lost and Found

The Lost and Found is growing by leaps and bounds, and we need your help to clear it out. The Lost and Found rack and table are located next to the front office by the bus doors. Items not claimed by December 22 will be pulled off the racks and later donated to a local charity. Please remember to put your child’s name in their clothing so we can return it to you.

One week until Thanksgiving break!

Thanksgiving Play

First Grade will perform their Thanksgiving Play on Thursday at 8:15.  Arrive early to get a good seat.  Our class will be slightly right of the center when you are looking at the stage.  You are invited to a breakfast in our classroom immediately following the play.  Thank you to all for signing up to bring food, drinks, and paper products!  Please either send in items with your child or drop them off in our classroom before getting your seat on Thursday.

Don’t forget that all students should wear dark pants/skirts and white tops (except the popcorn) on both Wednesday for the dress rehearsal and Thursday for the Play.

Holiday Stockings

Last week I sent home stockings from the Salvation Army.  This is an optional project where students may choose a boy or girl ages 0-12  and fill a stocking with items that they need (toiletries, socks, etc.) or want (small games, book, etc.) for the holidays.  This is a great way to teach your child about giving this season as they choose items that they like to give away to another child.  All stockings are due Friday, December 2nd.

Out to Lunch Bunch

Our class has earned an Out to Lunch Bunch for good behavior in the Cafeteria.  They will get to go outside and play after they finish eating on Monday, so please plan to come on another day to eat with your child.

From the Office

As the cold front rolls in and the wind continues to grow stronger, please remind your students to wear hats, coats, appropriate clothing whenever they are headed outside.   Also they need to wear tennis shoes on PE days - No boots please!  PLEASE ask your students to check Lost & Found.  All unclaimed items will be donated to charity after December 22.

AR Tests

Due to the Thanksgiving Play your child can take AR tests on Tuesday and Friday mornings this week, instead of Thursday.

Pizza Night

Plan a night off from cooking this Tuesday for Papa John’s Pizza night.

Scholastic Book Orders

Scholastic magazines will come home this week.  If you would like to buy books, please order by Monday, November 28th.  Books will be in by the holiday break if you would like them for gifts.  If you want them to be a surprise for your child let me know, and I will hold them in the classroom for you to pick up at a convenient time.

We will be very crafty this week as we create Native American vests and headbands and make turkeys to decorate our classroom!
