Hi Everyone-
Yeah! CRCT's are over!! The kids did a great job. We should have results in May and the report should be available to you sometime in the summer. We felt that the kids were really prepared for them.
Also, this week we have been full throttle ahead. We are learning about ecosystems and an in class group project will be going on next week. In Math, we have been working on the "Order of Operations" and we will be taking many grades over each new concept and reinforcements that we do, to gather an accurate snapshot of the kids math ability.
We are working on persuasive writing and there is a persuasive speech project coming home on Monday. We will have these persuasive speeches on the last week of school. This should be fun for the kids and it will help their public speaking skills.
Please make sure you have Tuesday, May 13th at 7:30am on your schedule. This is the morning that we will have our Portfolio Breakfast. You will get to sit in your child's desk and look through their Tiger Publishing (big thanks to Melina Smith and Lee Best!) and all kinds of neat work projects from the year. These are all things that you haven't seen before!! Thanks to all of you and Mrs. Hall for bringing in breakfast items for our breakfast.....including coffee....yeah!:)
Also, today your child will be bringing home a registration form for next year. Please fill this out completely...don't forget to look on the back and sign at that bottom...every year, I have to send these forms back home if there isn't a signature, so be sure to look for the signature line. Also, please include 4 stamps so I can mail home all the report card info at the end of the year. Each child will receive $200 in their checkbook for the prompt return of these forms on Monday.
Remember, next week we will be going to the Chattahoochee Nature Center field trip on Thursday. Please dress appropriately and pack a large lunch. We will be eating there with nature.
Next week an author study of Roald Dahl will start. Each child will read one of his books.
We are busy!!! It is hard to believe we only have a couple more weeks of school. Obviously, we aren't slowing down yet but we are having fun! Please have your child at school everyday....we are still in high gear.
Please send in a snack everyday....some kids get crackers from me daily!!!!!!( I am almost crackerless...no comments please:)
Back to your busy schedule...thanks for reading!
Jennifer and Kendall
