Last Week of School

Happy Monday!  I cannot believe that this is the last week of school!

Here are a few reminders:

Please check your child's book bag each night and clean it out.  I will send something home each day so that everything is home by Thursday.

Please do not send anything (unless it's a lunch) to school with your child on Friday.  They will not be bringing anything home so they will not need a book bag.

Everyone is closing up shop this week so there will be NO Target, Spanish, Computer Lab, Library, and there will be no Specials on Friday (lucky me!).

On Friday afternoon we will have a quick Ice Cream Sundae Celebration for the end of a great year!

There is so much to do this week to prepare for the end of the year...if you have any questions or concerns please let me know sooner than later!  I'm always happy to help!

This week we will be working on a First Grade Memory Book and tying up loose ends in all subject areas!  :)

Thank You!  Thank You!  Thank You for a wonderful year!  I consider myself truly blessed to have worked with such a great group of kids this year...thank you for your support and encouragement throughout the year!  I could not have made it through without such wonderful parents!!!

Have a great week!!!

The only homework this week is to Read, Read, Read!  I'm sending home a Reading Graph for this week so the students can chart how many minutes they read at home!  Other than that I will be sending home any unfinished work from class but there is no homework packet this week.  Please make sure that your child gets a good night sleep and eats a good breakfast before testing.  We will be testing Wednesday-Friday of this week.  Also, PLEASE try and be on time during testing because the students cannot enter the room if they are late.

Our field trip to the Zoo is May 1st!  If you have not turned in your permission slip yet please do so as soon as possible.

We will have our Author's Tea on Tuesday, May 13th from 8 to 9 am.  I hope everyone can come, the students have worked very hard on their books and they are so cute!  Congratulations to Stefan, Skye, and Angel for being the featured writers of the week on Tiger Talk News this Friday.  They will be interviewed by Dr. Rutledge and share their Tiger Publication with the school!

Our next field trip is to the Zoo and it is scheduled for Thursday, May 1st.  I will send home permission forms and details very soon.  I can take as many parents as I want but you have to pay your own way and there will not be room on the bus.  I encourage as many parents to come that would like too.  You can carpool from the school and follow the bus.

March 31st- April 4th

Happy Monday!

We just returned from our field trip, we had a great time!  The Fox is beautiful and the show was very entertaining!  We are going to use this opportunity today to discuss Antonyms.  We are going to write the opposite of Alexander and the horrible, terrible, no good, very bad day and write Alexander the wonderful, terrific, great, very good day!!

On Wednesday we will write Alexander a letter with some ideas of how he could have made his day a little better.  We all have bad days when things do not go our way so this is a good example of how to turn the bad into good!  :)

A CRCT homework packet is coming home today.  There are directions attached and it is due on Friday.  Also, I will send home a letter tomorrow for the online CRCT practice, directions will also be attached to this.  As always, if you have any questions please let me know, I am happy to help!

Hat Day is this Thursday!  It's only $1.00 and all of the proceeds go to Relay for Life!

This week we are measuring and graphing the growth of our plants from the Science Lab.  I am going to introduce double digit addition this week to get us ready for the CRCT.

We are still working on our Tiger Publishing, they are looking great!  I am still working on a date for our Author's Tea but I will let you know as soon as I put it on the calendar.  This is a chance for parents to come and look at the published books that the students have worked so hard on.  It will a breakfast reception and it will be sometime in May.

I will not post next week due to Spring Break!  Due to a much needed beach vacation I will not check email either! I hope everyone has a great Spring Break!  Enjoy!!!

Almost everyone has completed their Tiger Publishing writing...they are great!  I think you will really enjoy reading them at our Author's Tea in May.  We are moving on in Writing this week and we are working on a response to an informational text.  The students are using different graphic organizers to jot down facts about the seasons and then they will use that to write a strong paragraph.  We have some very talented authors in this class!  We will continue to work on Measurement in Math this week and we will check on the growth of our plants in the Science Lab.

Thanks again for all of the wonderful books from the Book Fair!  We are enjoying reading them as a class!

Have a great week...the warm weather is around the corner...I hope!
