Hi Everyone!  Welcome to Mrs. Smith's blog!!!!  I will be doing my best to update the blog and post the daily homework assignments for Smith's Key Components and any new information by 4:30pm everyday. So.............please check every afternoon or evening!!

Homework - Thursday, 11/12/09

Math - complete pg. 117, #1-12 all.  Show work for each problem.  Complete all problems using paper and pencil.

Spelling - study for Sort #12 test by gluesticking words onto pg. 49 in the correct categories.

Reading - chose 8 vocabulary words from WCWC chapter 7 vocabulary list and write a sentence (at least 8 words) that focuses on the content of chapter 7.  Use 1 word per sentence so you will write 8 individual sentences. Comprehension Quiz over WCWC chapters 5-8 will be Monday, 11/16.

Social Studies - quiz over chapter 6, lesson 5 combined with chapter 6 test will be Wednesday, 11/18.

Be thinking about your IMMIGRATION DAY COSTUME!!!!!!

Math - complete pg. 115, #2-29 all.

Spelling - complete wkbk pg. 50 and study Sort #12 words for your test on Friday, 11/13.

Reading - finish reading your TFK and be prepared for a comprehension quiz tomorrow; study for WCWC chapters 5 and 6 vocabulary quiz tomorrow; complete acrostic poem for TRUTH (each letter needs to be at least a 5 word phrase describing Truth's character).

Social Studies - Chapter 6, lesson 5 quiz will be combined with a Chapter 6 test next Wednesday, 11/18.

Get your immigrant clothes together to wear to 5th grade's very first IMMIGRATION DAY on Friday, 11/20!!!

WOW!!!  You all warm my heart like the sunshine on a beautiful summer day!!!!  The donations you have volunteered to send in for our family in need are wonderful.  Thank you so much!!!  I am extremely blessed to have such a caring, giving, compassionate, kind, and generous group of students and parents this year!!!! :)

Journal Entry - reflect on how you feel about the first 4 chapters that we have read so far in WCWC (at least 5 8 word sentences AND remember I don't want a summary about what has happened in the first 4 chapters!).

100 Weekly Minutes Reading Log - complete reflection (at least 2 10 word sentences) and get parent signaure.

English/Grammar - complete GUMS wkbk pgs. 37-38.

Social Studies - complete wkbk pg. 32 and continue studying for Chapter 6, lessons 3 and 4 quiz on Wednesday, 11/11.

Assignments due Wednesday, 11/11 and the remainder of the week:

Math - multiplication and division flashcards OR whatever tool you use to practice your math facts is due on Wednesday; complete pg. 113, #2-38 all.

Reading - complete artist/selection director job for WCWC chapter 5; study your vocabulary words for WCWC chapters 5 and 6 vocabulary quiz on Thursday, 11/12.

Spelling - write down Sort #12 words in spelling spiral; cut-out Sort #12 words on wkbk pg. 47 and sort into correct categories on pg. 49; put words in plastic bag; Sort #12 test is Friday, 11/13.

Science - read textbook pgs. 144-147; complete wkbk pgs. 40-45.

Salvation Army Stockings and green information sheet went home with each student today.  If you are able to fill a stocking, it would be appreciated more than you know.  The filled stocking is due back by Monday, 11/30.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH has asked each class at Tritt to collect food as well as money for a giftcard for a family to buy a turkey/ham in order to have a wonderful and special Thanksgiving dinner this year.  I am including the list of food items, but I think that our room moms, Anne and Aimee may try and coordinate who brings in what so that we can try and check-off as much of the list as possible and not get too many duplicates of the same food items.  Thanks again for your kind and generous hearts during this upcoming Holiday Season! :)

Reading - review WCWC chapters 1-4 for your comprehension test on Monday, 11/9.

Social Studies - start studying for Chapter 6, lessons 3 and 4 quiz on Wednesday, 11/11.

Those of you who are staying after school for the SCIENCE OLYMPIAD meeting on Monday, 11/9 please bring a note from your parents stating you are staying after school as well as a snack to eat. Remind your parents to pick you up at 3:15 at the front of the school.
