Official Beginning of the 2nd Grading Period

Today is the first day of the 2nd grading period!  Report Cards for the 1st nine weeks will go home on Monday, October 22, 2007.  Please remind the students to leave all papers in their binders until Friday, October 26, when we will have a "clean out" session.  As we enter into the 2nd grading period, parents are encouraged to continue signing the students' planners until conference time in January.  At that time, we will determine on an individual basis as to whether this is necessary to continue.

Driftwood Permission Forms

As you complete these forms, please take note that it is not necessary for these forms to be notarized.

Our First Field Trip

Please wear a Tritt t-shirt on our field trip to the Civil War Museum on Monday, September 24!

September 18, 2007

Averages for Each Subject

Each student will receive a yellow slip of paper on Monday, September 24, which will list their averages thus far in the grading period.  Please sign this yellow slip and return it to me by Tuesday, September 25.

Civil War Museum Field Trip

We will be going on our first field trip on Monday, September 24, 2007.  Only a few students requested a school sack lunch, so the rest of the class will need to remember to bring sack lunches from home.  We will write a note in our planners on Friday to remind us of our lunch plans.

Picture Day

Our class will take individual pictures on Tuesday after Specials!  This may be one of the last individual pictures of their elementary school careers.  Wow!  I know the camera will capture their awesome personalities!

CoGAT

Testing will start Thursday, September 26.  Proper sleep, a nutritious breakfast, a prompt arrival, and a positive attitude will undoubtedly enhance our students' test taking skills on these testing days.  Please be mindful of these enhancements!

Driftwood Chaperones

Our 2 mothers and 2 fathers have been selected.  If we could take all of the wonderful parents who voiced a desire to chaperone, we would.  Nonetheless, we appreciate the great response from everyone!

Signatures on Graded Work

All papers with a grade of 79 or below should be signed by a parent.  By doing so, all of us will be aware throughout the grading period of grades that may slightly or significantly affect report card grades.  When graded work is distributed to the students, they will place those papers in the homework section of their binders as a reminder to receive signatures or powerful praise from parents for their performance.

Planners

Please, initial planners every evening!  Your cooperation with this procedure during this first grading period will hopefully instill the importance of open lines of communication between home and school, the importance of the students' accountability with homework tasks, and the benefits of good organizational skills.

All Papers

All academic papers should be kept in the appropriate sections of the students' binders until the end of the grading period.  At that time, we will have a "Binder Clean Out Session" in class.  So, please do not remove papers to be placed on refrigerators, etc.  Smile!

Driftwood Chaperones

One student asked on Friday about selecting chaperones, but for whatever reason, we didn't get around to having the drawing.  And today, no one even reminded me!  So... we will have the drawing first thing in the morning!

Birthday Treats

I was utterly delighted by the generosity of the students for my "30-something" birthday!  I received the perfect birthday card, absolutely beautiful flowers, and irresistible delectable goodies!  A huge thank you to all of my "world class" students for wonderful birthday wishes!
