Newsletter for February 20-29

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for the flowers and candy for Valentine's Day. All of you are so thoughtful on special days! I hope all the dads and grandfathers enjoyed the Tritt visit and donuts last Friday. Here are some of our activities for the rest of February.

Lang. Arts:

1. New letters  X and U

2. New Class Book, If I Were The President..

3. Blending 3 sounds together with the short u sound in the middle

4. Vowels   Long and short sounds

5. Write sentences using the sight words

Math:

1. Comparing money  (more/less)

2. Make and order 2-digit numbers      33, 37, 48, 55, 77

3. Practice counting and sharing equally

Science:

1. My teeth and dental health

Social Studies:

Identify American symbols and explain their meanings

Arts and Education Day will be this Friday.  Your child will enjoy a day of diverse cultural exposure to the arts. Lunch will be in the class that day.

TIGER NEWSLETTER (Jan14-Jan.18)

This week our new letter will be W, w. We will make a weather chart and a new class book--If I Had One Wish.

We will also be writing stories about the snow, snowmen, the penguins, and hibernation.

In Math, ask your child about telling time on the hour,counting  and writing by fives, and writing the missing number.

In Science, we will study the weather and the winter season.

Important Dates:

Jan. 15- Media Center Checkout

Jan. 17- Spanish and watch a 1st grade play

Don't forget Early Release and Conferences beginning Jan. 22 thru Jan. 28.

Kindergarten Newsletter

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. The first day back was great! We were so glad to see each other and share our news.  Some of our new themes this month will be ..winter, hibernation, Eskimos, weather, migration, bears, and penguins.  New letters will be J, j. E. e. and W.  We will really be concentrating on writing sentences using descriptive words and increasing our reading skills.  During Math, we will learn about telling time on the hour, writing larger numbers, working with simple fractions, and solving word problems. Conferences will begin Jan. 22nd and report cards will be given to you at that time. Please look online to see my blog in the future. Go to the Tritt Website, click staff, and click my name. After this week, let me know in writing if you would like a paper copy of my blog.Thanks for all the interest and support this year.
