Only Two Days!

Well, it is already time for Thanksgiving! Crazy how time flies when you are at a new school and it is so awesome! I haven't updated in a while but I will let you know what has been going on. This past unit was Flag Football with me and Pickleball and Badminton with Mrs. Smarr. We started this unit in early October and due to the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon and the weather we are just now finishing it. As with all activities not everyone is going to like every activity but I have heard some kids say they don't want to stop playing Flag Football and were excited to get to play Pickleball finally. While we were outside I saw many great catches and lots of great pulls (pulling the flag belt). The kids did a great job and hopefully they learned good throwing skills, hand eye coordination, and teamwork. Next, we should be inside because of the cold weather playing some large group games and basketball.

Maybe you have seen the pictures in the school that line the front hall and the front lobby. Those were some of my favorite pictures I have taken this year. I was very thankful Dr. Rutledge allowed me to put them up. I felt that they gave a face to the student body at Tritt. If I can I would like to continue to change them out every couple of months. I got the idea from a school in Arkansas that had huge pictures of their students in various locations of the school and loved it so I wanted to bring it home to Tritt. Hope you enjoy them!

Finally, if you missed the Thursday Memo I am George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life" at Theatre on Main in Acworth. It is going to be a great play and I recommend you check it out. It will last about 1 hour and 45 minutes and it starts at 8:00p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights starting Nov. 30 and Dec 1 and ends Dec 21 and 22. Tickets are $14 and $10 for kids. If you get 10 or more ask for the group rate. This should be a great event to get you in the mood for this holiday season!

Until next time take care...

Volleyball: A True Story

Well I was informed that some people have actually looked at this, so I wanted to update it again! I want you the parents to be informed on what is going on in the gym. We finished Volleyball and 4-Square a couple of weeks ago and are now on to Football and Badminton and Pickleball. During Volleyball we learned several skills which included bumping, setting and serving. I made a video of my friends and I that play volleyball on Monday nights and the kids seemed to enjoy watching some adults play Volleyball. At the end of the unit for 4th and 5th grade we played a round robin tournament where each class played teams from other classes. It is interesting, how we can work so heavily on skills in a drill but when the games actually are played some of the kids forget what they had been practicing. I had to keep reminding them to use what they had practiced. I even would applaud form or use of skill even if it went out of bounds. Overall they did a great job, the winning class for 4th grade was Mrs. Bosma's class and for 5th was Mrs. Bryer's class. Until next time...

Coach Adams

A look into the first days of P.E.

I thought I would use this post to keep you updated on activities we are doing in the gym. I love taking pictures as you read in the last post. The first several weeks we did the parachute, relays, fun games, games I liked but the kids didn't, games that we got from other PE teachers, and finally Pirate Ship. These games centered on listening, following directions, team work, strategy, offensive and defensive skills, fleeing, dodging, and tagging. These first couple of weeks were really fun, and I have gotten to know the kids and the atmosphere at Tritt. I love this place! Take care and until next time...

Who is Coach Adams, well I'm glad you asked!

Hello Tritt Elementary Parents and whoever else will read this thing! I wanted to start out by introducing myself so you can get an idea of who is teaching your kids in P.E. The first and second day of class we introduced ourselves by bringing 5 things that described us best so I will give you the same. First I love sports and being active, my favorite sport is softball and have been playing it for about 7 years now. The second thing I brought was my old license plate, it read PIPERS. The Pied Pipers is a group I was in during my college years, they are an improvisational children's theater troup. We toured around the world, (England, Scotland, Chicago, San Diego, Kentucky,Texas) performing in elementary schools. We encouraged the kids to use their imagination and the shows were always different but always included audience participation. I loved it and spent all 5 years in college being in the Pipers, which is why I put it on my license plate. The third thing I brought was several play bills of the plays I was in. I love to act and it is hard to decide what I want to do sometimes, play softball or audition for a play. The fourth thing I brought was a shirt from the camp that I work at in the summer, Camp Tahkodah. It is an overnight 2 or 1 week camp where the kids stay in non-air conditioned cabins in the middle of the summer in Arkansas. I made it sound bad but it really isn't, if it gets too hot we have a creek that you can cool off in, horse rides, nature hikes, soccer, Capture the Flag games, crafts and all kinds of games. The kids love it and I love it, I think I will have to work there every summer of my life, at least that is what the campers tell me. Finally I brought my camera. If I could take pictures as my job I would do it. I love to capture those moments that remind you of times in your life that you never want to forget. Pictures are all over my apartment, so I can remember the different people I have come in contact with, the events I have participated in and the emotions I felt at that time. Well I hope I have given you a little insight into my life and if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask. I will conclude with some pictures of the above described activities in my life and some of my family. My family is awesome and I am grateful to be close to them again. They live in Jonesboro, Georgia and I am following in my father's footsteps by being a teacher. He teaches Social Studies at GACS in Norcross. Take care and until next time...
