Grade Folders and Pictures

Dear Parents,

There will be no Homework Packet this week due to testing.  Please, however, take the time to sit with your child and go over any and all errors in your child's Grade Folder today.  Please be sure your child understands the concepts and skills he or she missed, even if they were careless errors.  Thank you very much. Don't forget to refer back to the testing hints I sent you last week.  Also, don't forget that your child needs two sugarless, healthy snacks each day of testing, and 6 to 8 No. 2 pencils for all three days.  A soft eraser will help immensely.  Thanks!

This Friday, April 25th is the final due date for picture money or returned pictures.  Thanks to those of you who have already returned these.  More information in my newsletter!

                                                                          Enjoy !

                                                                           Joanne

Also, just a reminder that all pictures or picture money is due this Friday, April 25th.  We still have several students who haven't brought back either.

Music Class Talent Show

Dear Parents,

This Friday, March 21, 2008, is Talent Show Day in Mrs. Irwin's Music Class.  Please have your child come prepared to sing, dance, act, play a musical instrument, read poetry, read an original story, or perform in any way he/she has a special talent.  The talent show will take place from 9:55 to 10:35 A.M.  You are welcome to attend.  Please go directly to the Music Room  at 9:55.

In your child's folder today is a small part of the "Waltzing Matilda" song that our class will sing at the Australian Olympics on April 3rd.  Please have your child memorize the words before then.  (We will all be singing together as a class.)

                                                                           Thanks,    Joanne

Friday, February 8th

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that your child needs to bring a small (sandwich size) baggie of sand and 4 or 5 small rocks to school on Friday for our Japanese Meditation Zen Gardens.  We will be  making these right after the Japanese festival in the morning.  (Please keep the sand and rocks separatre if at all possible.)  Thanks to those of you who have already sent these in.

Also, please remember that your child needs to wear his/her red tie dyed t-shirt on Friday.  If your child is wearing a Japanese outfit, please wear the t-shirt underneath.  Thanks so much.  It should be a fun day!  We'll be meeting with our 5th grade buddies in the afternoon, too.  Thanks again!

Golden Clock Award

Dear Parents,

All the classes at Tritt are now taking part in a program called The Golden Clock.  The Golden Clock  Award is given to the class or classes each week who have NO TARDIES for the entire week.  Those classes get the Golden Clock to display in their classrooms.  It is quite an honor!  We would LOVE to be the recipients of this award each week, and then be the GRAND PRIZE WINNERS at the end of the school year.  We, however, cannot do it without your help.  This week we did great on Monday and Tuesday, but then we had three tardies between Wednesday and Thursday.  We were so disappointed.  Can you help our class excel in this notable area?  Please set your alarm clocks so that we have lots of extra time in the morning to get to school on time.  Please, also, schedule your child's doctor appointments as late in the day as possible, or at least have your child report to school first.  It would make us so happy to show the entire school that we can get here on time each and every day!   Thank you, thank you for helping us win this exciting award!

                                                                                         Your child and Ms. Thomas

REPORT CARDS

Dear Parents,

Just to let you know, report cards will not be coming home on Friday, January 11th.  We, at Tritt, are going to hold them until conferences so we can discuss them with you, and answer any of your questions.  I will also put this information in next Monday's newsletter.   I hope you all had a fantastic Winter Break!

                                                                                      Happy New Year!

                                                                                      Joanne Thomas

Book Exchange

Dear Parents,

Please remember to send in your book for the Book Exchange no later than Wednesday morning.  We will be having our Book Exchange at D.E.A.R. Time (approximately 9:15 or so) on Wednesday.  If you have already purchased and wrapped your book, you may send it in tomorrow (Tuesday).  Thanks so much for your cooperation with this fun activity!

                                                                                          Joanne

Stockings, Etc.

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that the Salvation Army Empty Stocking Drive ends this Friday, November 30th.  If you are planning to fill a stocking, it must be returned no later that this Friday, 11/30.  No stockings can be accepted after that date, since all stockings will be picked after school on Friday.  Thanks so much to those of you who have already participated, and have sent in your stockings.  If you choose not to participate, please send the stocking back as soon as possible, since we've had requests for seconds.  Thank you.

Also, just a reminder that this Friday, 11/30, is Colonial Day in second grade.  Please have your child wear his/her red tie dyed t-shirt for this festive occasion.  The children will be rotating through four different second grade classrooms from 12:15 to 2:15.  They will learn about many different activities from Colonial times.  Our class is responsible for games.  Thanks to our fantastic volunteers who will "work" in our class all afternoon:  Mrs. Neal, Mr. Hibbert, Mrs. Boyle, and Mrs. Hunt; and to Mrs. Haidari for baking the cornbread; and, of course, a very special thank you to our equally fantastic room mom, Mrs. Baumann for helping me organize this fun afternoon.     A newsletter will come home soon!            Joanne

TieDyed T-Shirts and More

Dear Parents,

Today your child is bringing home his/her red tie dyed T-shirt.  Please remember to have your child wear it for the first time next Wednesday, November 7th.  This is our field trip day to Wills Park in Roswell.  Thanks so much.  Also, today in your folder is a letter from our room mom, Noushin Baumann, telling you about my Native American Day on Friday, November 16th.  Although I will be telling the children about this special "Thomas Class Only" day, I won't be telling them about any of the events or activities taking place that day.  I'd love for them to be surprised, so please, please keep my secret and don't tell them what I have planned. A newsletter will be coming home soon with all the details.  Thanks so much for your understanding and cooperation!         Joanne

Also, special congratulations to Joseph Carley, our Accelerated Reader winner for the month of September!
