Picking Up Report Cards

Dear Parents,

I hope you are already enjoying your summer break!  I miss your children very much!  Just a reminder that the following parents need to pick up their child's report card at school since there were no stamps included in your large brown registration envelope:  Welsh, Swann, Rowe, Roberts, Norris, Nickel, and Land.  You may pick these up anytime after June 1st.  Thanks, and have a great summer!

Field Trip

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that we will be out of the building from approximately 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. this Friday, March 27th for our Field Trip to the Cobb Civic Center to see a performance by the Georgia Ballet.

Also, a very special welcome is extended to our lovely new student, Katie Norris, who comes to us from Florida.  She has had a great first day and she fits right in with our sweet class!

A newsletter will be coming home next Monday.  Enjoy this beautiful spring weather!

Technology Night

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that Technology Night is tonight - Thursday, February 26th.  Come and view some extremely innovative and creative technology projects executed by our very own Tritt students.  Our demonstration will take place in Ms. Gentry's Room (305).  Be sure to go to all the classes at Tritt to see a variety of great projects!   It all starts with a Tritt Tiger Foundation meeting at 6:00 P.M.  Hope to see you there!     Joanne

Animal Research

Dear Parents,

Be sure to check your child's folder for an exciting new assignment on Animal Research!  Part of this assignment will be done at school and part will be done at home.  The children are really excited about this project.  Please let them proceed with minimal assistance from you.  All details are in today's newsletter.  Please check your child's folder every day.  Thanks so much!    Joanne

Penguins!

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for helping your child with his/her penguin project.  The results were fantastic!  Everyone who enters our room sees our penguins and automatically has a big smile on their face.  The plans and outlines were extremely well done, also.  Thanks for guiding your child through this very worthwhile project!

We are now starting our Space Theme with the help of our wonderful Science Lab teacher, Mrs. Walters.  We will learn all about the moon, sun, stars, and planets.  Mrs. Walters will have some excellent hands on activities for the children to explore. We all love Science Lab!

Please see my newsletter coming home this Monday for all of our other phenominal second grade activities!

                                                        Enjoy!    Joanne

Report Cards

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that Report Cards will be held until Conference Week (January 26th - January 30th).  At that time we will be able to discuss your child's progress in person, and address any concerns or questions you might have.  Conference times and dates will be coming home to you this Friday, January 9th.  Please return these as soon as possible, so that any changes may be made quickly.  Also, please know that the teachers at Tritt make every effort to keep sibling conferences on the same day at back to back times.  If, however, you need to change your original date, we cannot guarantee that  all your children will be able to be scheduled together since each teacher will already have his/her schedule in place.

Please check your child's folder this coming Monday for an exciting "at home" family homework project!  Your child will have three weeks to complete this fun activity!

More news in my newsletter coming home on Monday, January 12th!

                                                                                  Enjoy!

                                                                                   Joanne

Winter Party

Dear Parents,

Just a reminder that our Winter Party will be held this Thursday, December 18th, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00P.M.  If you are helping out, you may come a little earlier to set up. If you have any questions, please call Stacey Bass since she is arranging everything for me.  Thanks very much!

Also, please let me know if your child will not be here on Friday.  Some of the children told me they might not be here, but they weren't sure.  It's always best to let me know if your child will be absent because of a trip or right before a holiday.  Thank you!

Have a wonderful, safe Winter Break!          Joanne Thomas

Living History

Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful two days experiencing a Living History "on campus" presentation.    We rotated to four different presenters who shared their historical expertise with us.  We met a Creek Native American as well as two Cherokees.  We danced and sang and learned so many interesting Native American facts.  We also met Sequoyah and James Oglethorpe!  They discussed their importance to Georgia"s history as well as American history, and their culture and customs.  What a great field trip!  Thank you all so  much for allowing your child to be part of this amazing experience.

Please be sure to check you child's folder on Monday (November 10th) for a very important and informative newsletter for parents only!  Have a great weekend!

Our Room Mom

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Stacey Bass (Ryan's mom)!  She will be our class Room Mom this year.  Stacey and I have already met, and we have discussed most of the special programs and activities that await your child this year.  She is now in the process of planning a schedule for all of you who signed up to be Story Readers.  You may have already been contacted.  If not, Stacey will be contacting you soon.  If you didn't sign up, but now feel you would like to be one of our readers, please give Stacey a call.  I am sure she will be glad to include you somewhere in the schedule.  (Her telephone number is on the class list you received in your Open House Folder.)  More news in my next newsletter (in your child's Grade Folder.)
