1/30-Blood Drive in Gym (1-6)

1/31-Tritt Math Night at WalMart & Dinner at Zaxbys (5-8pm):  Bring your clipboard and pencil to come solve math problems at WalMart (on Johnson Ferry Rd.). Zaxbys is also offering a special deal this night for Tritt families and friends (buy one adult meal and receive a free child's meal).  Anyone that comes will receive a free homework pass :)   I will be at WalMart 5:30-6:00pm.

2/1- All Pro Dad's Breakfast (6:40-7:40am)  register online to attend

2/6- Chick-Fil-A Night (5-8pm)

2/9- First Grade Field Trip to see Henry & Mudge play (wear your green tie-dye t-shirt)  

2/10- Tritt Family Dance Night in the Tritt Gym.  Choose one session to attend-   6:00-7:00pm or 7:00-8:00pm  (8-9pm is for 5th graders only).   It is $3.00 per person to attend and NO DROPOFFS.   The Varsity will be selling food and drinks for this event. 

2/14-  Valentine's Day -  Bring your cards and holder   

2/20- NO SCHOOL (President's Day)

 

What We Are Learning This Week:

Reading:  We will be reading non-fiction books about Harriet Tubman and fiction books about Groundhog Day.  We will be finding the main idea and details of these books.  We will also be learning about contractions and reviewing compound words.

Word Work:  Word Families- at, ot, it

Writing:  Writing predictions about Groundhog Day & writing letters to friends.  Emphasizing correct capitalization, punctuation, and spacing when writing.

Math:  Continue our unit on fractions and assess

Content:  Social Studies- Continue unit on continents and oceans and assess

January 23rd-27th

This is our first full week of school since our holiday break and it will be a busy one!  Last week I did not pass out our Thursday Take Home Books and we did not have time on Friday to write in our Parent Journals.  I am planning on completing both of these this week.   Everyone also received a letter about lice.  Please check your child often and let me know if you find anything.   I am having the students keep their coats in their backpacks and they are hanging their backpacks on their own chairs.   We will continue to do this for the next few weeks.

January 10th-13th

Welcome back!!!  I hope everyone had a wonderful break!  I enjoyed the holidays with family and friends and loved sleeping later :) 

We are back to our routine and have much to learn as we begin our 3rd  9weeks.  This 9 weeks we will be: reading fiction and nonfiction books, writing many stories with correct punctuation and capitalization,  adding and subtracting to 18 (please continue to work on flash cards weekly to increase fluency), counting coins to $1.00 and bills to $20, recognizing fractions, creating and solving word problems, telling time to the hour and half hour, creating and interpreting data using graphs, locating all of the continents and oceans, describing contributions and character traits of Harriet Tubman, Theodore Roosevelt & George Washington Carver, identifying all parts of a plant and the basic needs of plants and animals, and contrasting the functions of muscle groups.

Writing:  We will be writing about our holiday break using details in our journals.  We will also be creating a snowy day story and writing about our own dream (just like Martin Luther King had a dream).

Math:  Counting coins to $1.00 and making fair trades, practicing addition and subtraction facts to 18
