Welcome back!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful break! I enjoyed the holidays with family and friends and loved sleeping later :)
We are back to our routine and have much to learn as we begin our 3rd 9weeks. This 9 weeks we will be: reading fiction and nonfiction books, writing many stories with correct punctuation and capitalization, adding and subtracting to 18 (please continue to work on flash cards weekly to increase fluency), counting coins to $1.00 and bills to $20, recognizing fractions, creating and solving word problems, telling time to the hour and half hour, creating and interpreting data using graphs, locating all of the continents and oceans, describing contributions and character traits of Harriet Tubman, Theodore Roosevelt & George Washington Carver, identifying all parts of a plant and the basic needs of plants and animals, and contrasting the functions of muscle groups.

What We Are Learning This Week:
Reading: Reading fiction books and identifying main idea and details. Reading nonfiction books about Martin Luther King Jr.
Writing: We will be writing about our holiday break using details in our journals. We will also be creating a snowy day story and writing about our own dream (just like Martin Luther King had a dream).
Word Work: Consonant Blends cr, cl, gr, gl, fr
Math: Counting coins to $1.00 and making fair trades, practicing addition and subtraction facts to 18
Content: (Health) Functions of muscle groups
