Dear Parents,

I am sending home your child's published story today with the directions.  They need to be done by April 21st so that we can bind and then illustrate them.  Please help your child.  Some of the stories were great, while some needed some extra help.  You may even change the title if you don't like what your child chose.  Brainstorm some fun times you have had, like a vacation or a special sport and go from there.  If you have any questions, please give me a call.  If you are not sure how to type your child's story, then write me a note and I'll find someone to type it for you.

Pizza Night is this Thursday, March 27th.  Please try to order pizza.  We had a blast with our last pizza party! 

Our Australian Olympics is Thursday, April 3rd.  We are doing the koala climb! Then we will go to all the other cool centers!  I need 2 volunteers to help out.  The time is from 8:30-9:45.  If you can help please call Lisa Tewell.

Spring Break is April 7th-11th.  Have a fun time off!

CRCT is April 23, 24, and 25th.  Please get online and work on this test so you feel comfortable taking it.  This is very important!

Field Day is May 14th from 12-2.  Please make sure you wear a hat and put sunscreen on.  It will be a lot of fun!  I do need about 5 volunteers to help out.  If you are able to help with Field Day please let me know.  Thanks!

Our Author's Tea will be Thursday, May 15th from 8:00-9:00 in our classroom.  Please mark this date on your calendar.  If you can help out with getting donuts or making a pound cake, fruit, or juice please let our room moms know.  I really appreciate anything you can do.  It should be a fun day sharing our stories with our parents and friends!

Talent Show, Book Fair and Pizza Party

Dear Parents,

     This is just a reminder that the book fair is here at Tritt this week and we are previewing the books today, Monday, March 17th.  On Tuesday we are going back to the book fair if you would like your child to purchase a book.  Please send the money with them to school on Tuesday.

     Our class Talent Show will be on Thursday, March 20th when they go to music.  If your child has a talent and would like to participate that would be great!!!

     Our Pizza Party will be this Thursday, March 20th at 1:00.  I will be supplying the drinks for them.  Please make sure to pack a light lunch on this day.  Thanks,  Mrs. Womble

Reminders

Dear Parents,

Please remember that spelling tests are given on Thursdays now.  Your new spelling words come home on Friday so you will have plenty of time to study.

Technology night was a lot of fun.  Thanks to those who attended.

Tritt welcomes the Atlanta Thrashers and the Hawks on Monday, March 3rd at 9:00 in the gym.

March 4th is an Early Release Day.  Please remember that your children will be going home at 12:20.

March 10th is a Performing Arts Field trip day.  I am not sure what it is we are seeing because it was changed several times so I'll get back with you.  We will be going to the Marietta Civic Center.

Fiddler on the Roof will be at Hightower Middle School in March.  The dates and times will be coming home soon.  You will need to get tickets Monday, March 3rd.  Please get them early if you want to go.  They sell out really fast!

Please remember to practice for the CRCT at home on your computer.  It will help you with the language that is used.  Your child will feel very confident when taking the test also.  Thanks!

Reminders

Dear Parents,

     Please remember that this Wednesday, February 6th is an Early Release Day.

      Also this Friday, February 8th is our Japanese Festival.  Please wear your purple tie-dye shirt on Friday.  If you have a kimono and would like to dress like the Japanese do, please feel free to do so.  It will be fun to see how you dress.  The Japanese dolls are due on Thursday, February 7th.  We will use our dolls as decorations for our place setting, as well as make cool placemats.  Thank you to my 4 volunteers that are coming in to help set up.  We will let you know what needs to be done when you get here.  Please be here by 8:00 Friday morning or a little earlier if you like.

Our school dance is Friday night.  Hope to see you there!

Monday, February 18th is a holiday and Tuesday, February 19th is a Teacher Workday!  Enjoy your time off!

Friday, February 22nd is our Arts in Education Day.  This day is always a lot of fun for the children and very educational too!

Dear Parents,

     Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break.  Please remember that we will not be in school on Monday, January 21st, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

     I'm looking forward to meeting with you during the week of January 22nd for conferences.  Thank you for your quick responses to conferences!  Please come with any questions you may have regarding your child.

     We are reading Stone Fox now and we'll probably begin Mr. Popper's Penguins around the middle of next week, the 16th of January.  Please have your book by then if you have not already gotten it.  Thanks!

     We will start studying Japan next week, January 14th.  If you have anything interesting to share about Japan, please let me know and I'll get back with you.

Scholastic Book Fair

Dear Parents,

You might want to check out the Scholastic Book Fair that is in our area.  I went this weekend and bought $300.00 worth of books for our reading groups.  They had all the books they had here at school, but they were 30-50% off the price.  I got some great Magic Tree House books as well as Matt Christopher. Andrew Clements, Beverly Cleary, and Junie B. Jones and more.  Check the closest location at scholastic.com/bookfairs.  You might want to go to get a book for the child in our class that your child drew for the holiday party.  Happy Reading!!!  Mrs. Womble

I need two Parent Volunteers for Collaborative Planning

Dear Parents,

I need two parents who would be willing to watch my class for two hours on these days for Collaborative Planning with second grade----- Thursday, Dec. 6th at 11:15,  Thursday, March 13th at 11:15, and Thursday, May 8th at 11:15.  Please let me know if you can do this.  Human Resource says we can train parents to watch our classes for these days.  Let me know if this works for you.  I'm desparate and need someone soon.  I need to let the office know and I'll get back with you as to when training would be.  Thanks,  Mrs. Womble

Our field trip was a lot of fun!  We had a great time and it was very educational.

November is going to be a busy month!

Dear Parents,

Camp Day was a huge success and a lot of fun!  I hope everyone sent in their $3.00 to Lisa Tewell for camp day.  If you didn't please send it in as soon as possible.  Thanks.  I'd like to thank all the volunteers who made camp day such a success.  Thanks to:  Caroline's dad, John for supplying the huge tent that was awesome.  He came on Monday and put it up and then came back on Tuesday to take it down.  It would not have been camp day without his tent and help!  Our room moms, Sharene Cleveland and Lisa Tewell helped with the supplies, food and decorating.  They stayed all day to make sure everything went smoothly.  Thanks!  Other parents who helped out with centers or singing were:  Linda Johnson, Susan Keesee, Sharon Jessop and Debbie Edwards.  I'd like to especially thank Jim Cleveland for being our guide on the nature trail.  It's nice to know someone who knows everything about nature and trees!  Last, but not least, thanks to Tim Tewell for carving our huge pumpkin!!!  It looked so awesome when we turned the lights out!  I hope I did not leave anyone out.

Next Monday and Tuesday, November 5th and 6th are Teacher Workdays so there is no school.  There will be very little homework for next week and I am sending it home today, November 2nd.  We will have a spelling test next week.  They are taking their pretest today and we'll take our spelling test on Friday, November 9th.  Please read as your homework too and keep a record of it in your reading log.

On Wednesday, we are leaving school at 9:00 and returning at 2:00.  We are going to Wills Eqestrian Park for the Native American program.  Please don't forget to wear your purple tye-dye shirt on Wednesday for our field trip.  If you are bringing your lunch, don't forget that either!  I have already given the lunch count to the cafeteria and they will be packing the school lunches for our trip.  On Friday I reminded the children what they had ordered so thet should know.

On Thursday TARGET has a field trip so please don't forget that!

November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd will be our Thanksgiving holiday.  Have a safe one!

Colonial Day will be on Friday, November 30th.  We are in the process of planning this with the room moms and I hope they can make it to our meeting on Thursday, November 8th at 10:00.  Please let me know if this works for ya'll.  Thanks again.
