Reminders Til the end of the Year!!!

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow afternoon will be a fun day filled with activities related to Charlotte's Web.  We have read the book, watched the movie and now we'll have fun from 12:15-2:15.  All second grade classes will rotate to the centers.

Also, please remember that Wednesday, May 13th is Field Day for us from 12-2.  You may bring a water bottle and a visor or hat if you like.  You might want to put sunscreen on your child that morning.

On Friday, May 15th from 7:20-7:50 we will have our Author's Party.  You can come to our room and enjoy celebrating your child's writing as well as the other childrens' writing!  I look forward to seeing you all!  An invitation will come home with your child soon.

On Thursday, May 21st we'll have our end of the year party.  Boy did this year go by fast!!!  We'll have sundaes.  In the next few weeks a note will come home with your child with what we need to have a fun sundae party.  Please be on the lookout for it in your child's red folder.

                                                                           Thanks,  Mrs. Womble

Reminders

Dear Parents,

This is just a reminder that our Book Fair is going on now!  It starts today, Tuesday, March 17th, 7:30-8:00 and 2:30-6:00, Wednesday, March 18th, 7:30-8:00 and 2:30-4:00, and Thursday, March 19th, 7:30-8:00 and 2:30-4:00.  Our class previewed the books on Friday and a lot of the children liked a lot of the books they saw.  Please come check it out!

On Friday, March 27th our class is going to see a Georgia Ballet at the Cobb Civic Center.  This is with Performing Arts.  If you do not have a permission slip I'll be sending one home with your child this week.  This was what you filled out at Open House.  Please try and get it back to me ASAP.  Your child needs a permission slip in order to go on this field trip.

We are beginning to work on our Tiger Publishing books.  Please talk to your child about what would be a good story, like a special vacation, etc.  Their research papers that they did in class about their favorite animals were awesome.  Some of the children said they might want to use that.  Anyway, I want it to be something that you approve of them writing.  These stories will go home for you to preview.  I will send out a letter after Spring Break regarding these published stories so please look for it.  Some children might want to write about their Spring Break!

Report cards will go home this Thursday, March 19th.  If you have any concerns please give me a call and we'll talk.

I can tell the children are ready for Spring Break!  Please talk to your child about their behavior in school, as well as look at their red folder.  I am marking tallies for behavior.  Thank you!  Mrs. Womble

Reminders

Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for making me feel so special for Teacher Appreciation Week.  I loved the cards, flowers, and gifts.  Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.

Please remember that we go to the library every Friday and your child needs to have their library books at school.  A lot of the children are leaving them at home and then they can't check out a book.  This week on Friday we will not go because of Art Enrichment Day, which will be very educational!!!  Please make sure to ask your children what they learned.

Picture Day is this Wednesday, February 18th.  Don't forget to dress your best!

Technology Night is coming soon.  It will be on Thursday, February 26th from 6-8p.m.  Four children from our class will be showing you a Math game called "Cash Out".  There will be a lot more technology for you to see also.  Come check it out if you can.    Thanks,  Mrs. Womble

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!!  I hope everyone had a relaxing winter vacation. We will be going full force until Spring Break learning a lot!  My main goal is continuing to work on reading, writing and math.

Please review your child's homework when it comes home.  If I'm sending it home it is a skill they need to know.  I could tell with the editing of the letters sent home this week that the children were still having some problems.  I was hoping that they would do it on their own and then you might review it with them.  This will be on the CRCT, as many skills we will be reviewing now.  We only have 3 months left before the test and I do want them to know the material.

Your child will be bringing home a penguin project on Monday, January 12th.  All of second grade is doing this. The penguins are due on January 30th.  We will have a penguin parade to celebrate.  Along with this project, we will be reading Mr. Popper's Penguins, as well as doing some fun activities in Math and Writing.  It is a fun month in January with lots of learning!

Conferences will be January 26-30th.  Conference letters will be going home with your child in their red folder on Friday, January 9th.  They should be returned no later than January 19th.  I'd like to have them sooner if possible.  Please be on time for your conference.  If you are late it is not fair to the person in front or behind you.  Your time is what it is.  If the time I have given you is not good please write me a note and I will do my best to change it.  Please come with your concerns since  20 minutes is not a lot of time to discuss your child.  If we need to meet again we will.

I look forward to meeting with each one of you.  Please knock when it is your time.  It will not be considered rude.  It is your time to talk about your child.  Thanks so much.  Mrs. Womble

The Twelve Hours of Thanksgiving

Dear Parents,

This is just a reminder that the children will be performing The Twelve Hours of Thanksgiving this Thursday, November 20th at 7:45 in the Music Room.  After the performance,  we will go to Mrs. Womble's room for some yummy food and drinks.  Thanks so much to those parents who are providing this.  I really appreciate it.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!!!

                                               Mrs. Womble

Thank you so much!!! Camp Day was a success!

Dear Parents,

Camp Day was so much fun!!!  The children thoroughly enjoyed it and said it was the best day in school yet!   We kept them pretty busy with centers and plenty of activities all day long.  They even liked eating outside.  It was a gorgeous day!  I'd like to especially thank those who volunteered with centers, reading, nature walks, knot tying, cleaning up, etc.  Thanks to Holly Bandel, Robin Calnan, Susie Colantonio, Jacqui Ellis, Danielle Kwansik, Jennifer Piendel, Dottie and Pete Schnyder and my wonderful room mom, Sondra Ryder and her husband, who was a great help with the tent and knot tying, Robert Ryder!  Thanks to everyone for bringing stuff in for Camp Day also.  Without everyone's help, there would not be Camp Day!  Thank you!  Thank you! Thank you!  Mrs. Womble

Camp Day is this Friday, October 31st!

Dear Parents,

Camp Day is this Friday and we are going to have a lot of fun!  Please remember to bring in your requested items for Camp Day.  In order for everything to run successful we need these items as well as parent support.  Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to help out with centers, storytelling, hiking, etc.  I really appreciate your support!  Without you there would be no Camp Day!  A lot of fun activities have been planned.  For Friday all that you need to bring in is a towel, water bottle and a flashlight(for our ghost stories!)

Most of the children have brought in their little pumpkin to paint on Camp Day.  If you have not brought it in, please bring it to school ASAP.

Thanks also to those who bought me a book at the Book Fair.  It was very thoughtful!

Picture Retakes will be on Tuesday, October 28th.  Please remember your form and check.

Have a great Halloween for those who are participating in it!  Be safe!  Mrs. Womble

Reminders

Dear Parents,

Thank you for sending the Weekly Work folders back so quickly.  These were assessments and I am saving them.

Please remember that Wednesday, October 15th is an Early Release Day.

Friday, October 17th report cards are coming home with your child.  Please remember that 2's and 3's are good grades.  At the beginning of second grade you should see some 2's on your report card.  Nobody consistently is reaching the standards in everything!  If your child did get a 1, please work with them on this particular standard.

The Book Fair is coming to Tritt on October 21-23.  Your child brought home the flyer today.  Please look at the yellow paper that is with it for the hours of the book fair.

Camp Day is coming!!!  October 31st, which is a Friday is Camp Day.  I have planned some cool activities for the class.  I've also bought some cool stuff too!  If you can help out in any way, please call Sondra Ryder at (770) 649-9838.

Have a great weekend!  I hope some of you will be participating in Tritt Trot!

Spelling counts!

Sorry, I misspelled consistently!

Reminders

Dear Parents,

Your child's yellow folder will come home Monday with all of their work for the week, except handwriting and their writing journal.  Please review any papers that have a 1, which is limited or minimum progress toward meeting the standard.

The new report card is a standards-based report card-3- consisently meeting the standard, 2- progressing toward the standard, and 1- limited or minimum progress toward meeting the standard.  Not all of these grades go in the gradebook, but I do select about 4 papers each week.  Please stress  quality work with your children.  Some are making careless mistakes and if they just happen to skip a problem, they miss it.

I'm sending home the daily paragraph editing that we do in class Monday-Thursday.  It's important that you review this with them if they are missing a lot.  We go over it every day in class.  Your children will see this on the language part of the CRCT, so they must know it.

Please remember to read with your child or make sure they are reading every night.  Don't forget to ask questions about the story.  Some children are actually good readers, but then they do not comprehend what they read, so please ask questions.

Innisbrook Gift wrap is still going on so please help with this fundraiser.  You can buy some gift wrap for birthdays or the holidays.

Tuesday, September 16th is an Early Release Day.  Your children will be dismissed at 12:30.

Thanks!   Mrs. Womble
